Changing the World One Conversation At A Time

Humble beginnings in the inner city of Chicago, then 14 years living and playing professional basketball abroad granted me the ability to view life and sport through a different prism. These experiences have altered the way I perceive life and society. Through this transformation I have discovered that the beauty of the world doesn't come from the outside, but from within. The journey begins from self awareness and honest communication.

Chad Beckett

Deon Thomas provided the key note address for the Whitney M. Young Jr. Dinner on October 11, 2018 in Champaign, Illinois. This was an annual gathering that recognized exceptional leaders in the Boy Scouts of America organization, particularly those leaders who encouraged outreach of scouting activities to children who would not regularly be involved with the scouting movement. Having grown up in an urban environment, Deon was able to speak from the heart about the value of programs like this and the positive effect they have on young people. He weaved his personal life experiences into the subject matter of the evening, provided a wonderful example for the many young scouts present, while also inspiring the adults to rededicate themselves to the good work of the program. Deon's gentle good humor and glowing demeanor shines brightly whenever he is present. For gatherings and events that call for an inspirational speaker, I cannot recommend him highly enough. Chad S. Beckett Chairman, Prairie Fire District Prairielands Council, Boy Scouts of America -- Chad S. Beckett, Attorney at Law Beckett Law Office,
